Best Mailchimp alternatives with free plans for small business owners in 2024
One of the most frequent questions we get asked by small business owners or aspiring entrepreneurs is to make recommendations for email marketing platforms that have a free or low-cost option. While we are not digital marketing experts, one of the services we offer is to provide informed software/system recommendations for small businesses and solopreneurs.
We did an Instagram post early last year listing some free Mailchimp alternatives, and this blog post provides an updated list of alternatives that small business owners should check out.
Let's get into it!
1. ConvertKit
Their free plan allows up to 1000 subscribers with features like unlimited forms, landing pages and the ability to send email broadcasts.
Recently, they have launched a new Newsletter Plan where you can have up to 10000 subscribers for free with unlimited forms and landing pages, unlimited email sends, unlimited digital products and subscriptions, newsletter feed and mini-website, 1 basic visual automation with 1 email sequence etc. The catch with this plan is this: "there will be one ConvertKit-managed Recommendation slot enabled and any Paid Recommendation earnings generated from that slot will go to ConvertKit."
2. MailerLite
Their free plan allows up to 1,000 subscribers with features like landing pages, email automation, popups and the ability to send up to 12000 emails per month.
3. Beehiiv
Their free plan supports up to 2,500 subscribers with unlimited email sends, custom website creation, campaign analytics, custom domains etc. It is best suited for users that are looking to monetize their newsletters.
4. Google Workspace
While Google Workspace is not an email marketing platform, small business owners can leverage the mail merge feature to send up to 1500 personalized emails per day to their contact list if they are on any of these plans: Workspace Individual, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Standard, Education Plus
See how the mail merge feature works in this video.
5. Zoho Campaigns
For business owners who use Zoho Mail for their business emails or any of their products, Zoho Campaigns is worth checking out. Their free plan allows up to 2,000 contacts and to send 6,000 emails per month, basic email templates, signup forms etc.
We recommend free plans in this blog post to cater to business owners that are unable to leverage paid plans and for users looking to try before they buy.
